Mental Health in the Workplace

This presentation will examine best practices for addressing mental/behavioral health in the workplace. We will discuss the areas of understanding mental health, common mental health conditions, warning signs, creating a welcoming place to share, conversations with employees, organizational support, and self-care.
Jen DeFranco is an experienced human resources leader and consultant. Driven by compassion and kindness, she takes pride in providing the best human resources experience possible. She is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. She went to Indiana University and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1998 and has called Colorado home ever since. She obtained her master’s degree in Human Resources Management and carries a PHR and SHRM-SCP certification. DeFranco volunteers as a board member with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. She is currently the President of the Colorado Springs SHRM Chapter. She also organizes the #DisruptHR Colorado Springs events. In her free time, she enjoys walking the various trails of Colorado, knitting, reading, meeting with friends for coffee, and daydreaming of being near the ocean.
