The Marketing & Development Manager is responsible for managing fundraising and donor activities, along with managing digital and printed marketing materials to raise awareness and financial support for BDAR. This position is, in partnership with the Executive Director who serves as Chief Development Officer, accountable for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors through personal contact, direct mail and newsletter campaigns, fundraising and awareness events, monthly giving, matching gifts, solicitation of corporate gifts, donor acknowledgment and management of donor records. This position oversees content creation and planning for social media (Facebook, Instagram), bi-weekly newsletters as well as marketing materials for newspaper ads and events. Additionally, this position regularly makes updates to BDAR’s website.

Position Summary:
Annual Campaign and Fundraising Plan:
Works closely with the Executive Director to plan and execute annual development goals and activities, specifically:
Coordinate design concepts for quarterly direct mail; oversee scheduling and production of direct mail solicitation; evaluates and selects donor lists and acquisitions lists for solicitation.
Works with Executive Director and Board committees to create donor recognition and appreciation programs.
Oversees and monitors donor database; ensures that donor’s gifts are properly recorded and acknowledged, maintains a high degree of accuracy and consistency in maintaining and updating donor data.
Works with the Executive Director to evaluate development activities, benchmark progress, identify opportunities, and adjust strategy as needed.
Identifies prospective corporate partnerships and manages small business annual partner program while supporting the ED in major partner development
Submits development budget; follows established budget
Prepares monthly reports and/or other data as requested by the Executive Director.
Acts as BDAR spokesperson as assigned
Attends networking and community outreach functions in order to build connections and raise awareness for the organization
Acts as staff liaison to the Development Committee and works in concert with the ED and committee to help individual board members achieve annual development goals
Marketing:
Oversees daily content creation for social platforms Facebook & Instagram
Manages bi-weekly newsletter
Creates occasional content for website Blog and maintains updated information across BDAR’s website
Prepares and distributes press releases, event and informational flyers.
Takes pictures of all animals for use on website and in social media
Create materials as needed for fundraising campaigns, events, and more
Event Coordination:
Works with Executive Director, Development Committee chair and board members to cultivate and secure corporate sponsorships for major events like Cornhole and Bark & Wine
Assists with recruitment and supervision of volunteer event committee members
Acts as staff liaison to event committees, overseeing the coordination of event logistics; contracts with vendors, and licenses, ticket sales, participant records, and event marketing, for the annual Cornhole Tournament.
Coordinates and oversees the football fundraiser.
Maintains event records and files; oversees event budget
Responsible for donor/sponsor acknowledgement and recognition
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities: This position will require a wide range of skills. Candidates need not possess all of them in order to qualify; however, a desire to identify and correct skills deficits along the way will be helpful.

Education and Experience:
4 year degree or equivalent experience in related fields. Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit business and fundraising strategy. Minimum 2 years employed in program management, fundraising, event planning, marketing, or related field.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position will mainly be conducted in an indoor office environment, part-time work from home may be an option for this position, expect to work in and around animals, animal fur, dander and waste with occasional exposure to high stress levels. Typical shift is Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Some work off-shift (holidays, weekends) and fluctuating hours may be needed. Prepare for exposure to high noise levels and zoonotic diseases when around animals and exposure to all weather conditions when working at outdoor events.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position starting at $40,000 annually
