Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Safety and Emergency Program Manager leads the Organization’s internal emergency preparedness and safety initiatives. Responsible for the collaborative framework for preparedness, response, evacuation and recovery efforts with regard to the housing, care and protection of domestic pets and service animals in the event of a disaster and the internal safety program. Creates and facilitates safety trainings for staff and volunteers. Writes safety and emergency related procedures and information. Manages in-house people safety drills and exercises. Manages goals, plans, timelines and budgets and models safe working practices. Serves as primary Emergency Operations Center (EOC) rep; attends EOC briefings; ensures Joint Information Center (JIC) receives accurate and timely information in events. Attends City and County meetings, exercises and trainings and facilitates internal Emergency Response meetings and trainings. Oversees the Community Animal Response Team (CART) program. Requirements include a BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and one year of applicable work experience. Staff/volunteer supervisory experience required as is training and public speaking. Documentation and compliant preservation experience. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Completion of select FEMA courses a plus: IS-100, IS-III, IS-200, IS-700, IS-10, IS-11 Module B. Completion of American Red Cross courses including: Human First Aid/CPR, Pet First Aid/CPR, Disaster Services and others a plus. Emotional intelligence, work ethic and integrity skills required. Expected hiring range is $50k to $60k commensurate with applicable experience, education and certifications.
