NOCO Humane is looking for a compassionate and experienced Behavior Supervisor to join our team in Evans, CO. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising our Behavior Department at both campuses (Evans, CO and Loveland, CO), ensuring animals receive the behavioral care, enrichment, and support they need to thrive. The Behavior Supervisor will oversee assessments and training, support placement decisions, and lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Behavior Coordinators and department volunteers
- Oversee daily animal behavior assessments and enrichment plans
- Guide outcome decisions such as adoption, foster, transfer, or behavioral intervention
- Perform duties of Behavior Coordinators as needed
- Design and implement behavior protocols and training programs for staff and volunteers
- Lead behavior-related training in safe handling, enrichment, and assessment
- Monitor shelter animal population for emotional and physical wellness
- Serve as a resource for internal teams and community behavior-related inquiries
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive care and support
- Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Support euthanasia procedures (certification provided upon hire)
- Travel regularly between shelter campuses and work flexible hours, including weekends
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree in animal behavior, biology, veterinary science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- At least 1 year of hands-on companion animal behavior/training experience required
- Certification in animal behavior (CPDT-KA, CTC, KPA-CTP, ACAAB) required
- Minimum of 1 year direct staff supervision or 2 years volunteer supervision experience
- Experience in enrichment and positive reinforcement training techniques
- Shelter experience and familiarity with behavior assessment tools (e.g., SAFER, Match-Up II) preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and occasional travel
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus and include a wage premium
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid Colorado driver’s license and insurable driving record
