Are you passionate about animals and ready to make a difference behind the scenes and on the road? As our Foster & Transfer Coordinator, you’ll be the bridge between shelter animals and their brighter futures—overseeing foster care placements, transport logistics, and volunteer coordination.
You won’t be stuck at a desk—this hands-on role includes travel (sometimes out of state), animal handling, volunteer supervision, and teamwork with veterinary and behavior professionals. It’s fast-paced, people-focused, animal-loving work that truly changes lives.
NOCO Humane is an independent nonprofit working to further the compassionate, safe, and responsible relationship between animals and people.
What You’ll Do:
-Coordinate foster placements and emergency response
-Transport animals to and from partner shelters and foster homes
-Train and supervise dedicated foster and transfer volunteers
-Handle and care for animals, including vaccinations, exams, and euthanasia
-Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth, humane transitions
-Support offsite adoption events and outreach
What You Need (Required):
-Associate degree or equivalent experience in animal care, biology, or related field
-1+ year of animal care experience
-Strong customer service and communication skills
-Comfort with driving and ability to work evenings/weekends/overnights as needed
-Ability to lift 50 lbs and handle animals of all temperaments
What’s a Plus:
-Supervisory or foster coordination experience
-Bilingual (English/Spanish – includes pay premium)
-Experience with neonatal care, Chameleon software, or as a vet assistant/tech
-Euthanasia and vaccination certification
-Experience driving long-distance or overnight transport routes
