We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Foster and Transfer Coordinator for our Loveland, CO shelter location. The position is open due to an internal staff transfer. The job reports to our Supervising Veterinarian and is responsible for implementing the Shelter’s animal foster care and animal transfer programs. Primary areas of responsibility include coordination and completion of foster care appointments, response to foster volunteer needs and working with a variety of animal transfer partners. Tasks include foster care volunteer home inspections, foster volunteer recruiting, training and supervision, and coordinating the movement of animals in and out of foster care and to and from transfer partners. There is a significant amount of animal handling involved. The ability to drive a transfer van for long distances, and stay overnight at out of town locations as needed, is also a job expectation. Requirements include an Associate Degree in biology, animal behavior, animal husbandry, a related field of study or equivalent applicable work experience. Veterinary assistant or technician experience is a plus as is Chameleon software experience. Previous experience involving customer service and companion animal care and handling are required. Neonatal animal care experience is helpful and animal welfare experience is preferred. Euthanasia and vaccination certification and/or experience is desirable. Emotional intelligence, work ethics and work integrity required. Bilingual English/Spanish reading, writing, speaking and understanding is a plus and includes a wage premium. The regular work schedule for the job will be five days a week including one weekend day. Overtime, attendance at select events, and travel as needed is required. Must be 21 years of age due to insurance requirements and have and maintain an insurable driving record.
