Are you a compassionate leader with a passion for animal behavior and staff development? NOCO Humane is seeking a skilled Behavior Manager to oversee our dynamic Behavior and Foster/Transfer teams across our campuses in Loveland, Greeley, and Weld County.

This is more than a job — it’s a mission-driven leadership opportunity where you’ll shape lifesaving programs, develop high-performing teams, and directly impact the welfare of animals in our care (cats, dogs, chickens, turtles, and more!).

NOCO Humane is an independent nonprofit working to further the compassionate, safe, and responsible relationship between animals and people.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and Mentor: Supervise a team of behavior staff, foster/transfer staff, and volunteers — providing training, support, and guidance to help them thrive.
  • Behavioral Assessments: Conduct daily evaluations and enrichment plans for animals, making outcome recommendations such as adoption, foster, transfer, or behavior modification.
  • Program Development: Design, document, and implement behavior, foster, and transfer programs that align with Fear Free practices, PACFA compliance, and Socially Conscious Sheltering principles.
  • Euthanasia & Welfare Oversight: Serve as a decision-maker and trainer in euthanasia practices and act as the escalation point for complex cases.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with Veterinary, Client Services, and Animal Care teams to ensure consistent and compassionate animal outcomes.
  • Data & Strategy: Develop department goals and budgets, oversee census management, and produce monthly reporting and analysis to support organizational growth.
  • Community Engagement: Educate staff, volunteers, and the public through training sessions and outreach, and represent the organization in events, transfer partnerships, and collaborative programs.
  • Operational Leadership: Handle hiring, scheduling, payroll approvals, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions for your department, ensuring a productive and positive work culture.
  • Cross-Campus Impact: Travel between locations to ensure program consistency and direct support at all facilities (Loveland, Greeley, Evans and partner sites).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s in animal behavior, veterinary sciences, or related field — OR equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 2+ years hands-on companion animal training or behavior assessment experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Behavior certification (CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, CTC, etc.) required.
  • 2+ years working with the general public in a customer focused position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to humane, ethical care.
  • Bonus if you have:
Shelter experience, Chameleon software knowledge, euthanasia experience, or are bilingual in Spanish.
