Position Classification: Shelter Operations Manager (40 hours/week) Exempt
Position Requirements: The Animal Control Division of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a well-qualified Shelter Operations Manager. Responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the Animal Control/Shelter office and animal holding areas. Manages database records and generates reports. Inventories feed, medical and office supplies. Responsible for supervision, hiring and evaluation of operations positions including training and staff development. Review and approve invoices, submit monthly reports and reconciliation of grant monies. Reconciles receipts for weekly deposits, assists in the budget process. Schedule veterinary clinics and assist in clinic procedures.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional with strong initiative, customer service, organizational, and communication skills. The candidate should have a strong desire to work with people and animals.
Expectations of the chosen candidate: The chosen candidate is expected to demonstrate a positive demeanor, support the mission of Animal Control, and work closely with the public, shelter staff, and volunteers.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be 21 years of age.
Must have a valid Colorado’s Driver’s License at the time of appointment and throughout employment and know how to safely operate a motor vehicle.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, work experience.
Three years’ experience working in an animal shelter.
Supervisory or acting supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of animal behavior.
Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
Data entry and MS Office skills.
Public relations experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to deal with the public in a variety of difficult and sometimes emotional situations.
Pass a Criminal background check.
Candidates proceeding in the process will be required to complete a Sheriff’s Office Civilian Application.
Hiring Range: Summit County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a step pay system for this position. Starting wage is contingent upon law enforcement experience. The current step range for this position is SO70 exempt, $75,729-$99-709 DOQ. Also available is a $2,000 sign-on bonus, a wellness benefit program, an education reimbursement, and an excellent benefits package.
