POSITION SUMMARY:
The Foster & Transfer Coordinator is responsible for all alternative placement options at the Humane Society of Weld County (HSWC) including foster, transfer and working/community cats.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, develop, and manage foster volunteers to ensure there are sufficient placement options for neonate, medical and behavior animals in need of foster homes.
Develop and manage foster program procedures, trainings, onboarding, screening and database management in conjunction with the Community Engagement Coordinator.
Maintain consistent communication and engagement with fosters; create and maintain foster training materials, informational handouts, guidelines, etc.
Actively track all animals in foster care to ensure animals are staged appropriately, scheduled for required medical appointments and/or behavioral follow ups and any other appointments/follow ups as needed.
Facilitate scheduling of adoption visits, virtual or in person, for all animals being adopted directly from foster homes.
In conjunction with the shelter management, healthcare and behavior teams, identify animals as foster or transfer candidates.
Manage all incoming and outgoing requests for transfer, facilitate transportation arrangements and veterinary scheduling, and ensure appropriate recordkeeping is completed for all transfers.
Maintain and cultivate relationships and serve as the primary point of contact with partner shelters and transfer partners; build new transfer partnerships through outreach and networking.
Maintain all animal information in shelter software and other required paperwork in a way that ensures all information is communicated appropriately.
Act as a resource for email, phone calls and in person patrons regarding the foster, transfer and community cat programs.
In conjunction with shelter management and the Community Engagement Coordinator, implement programs and marketing strategies that support and grow the foster and community cat programs.
Market, promote and seek community partners to support the community cat program, including identification of community partners for potential colony release sites.
Provide adoption counseling for potential working/community cat adopters.
In conjunction with shelter management and the Community Engagement Coordinator, monitor and coordinate marketing strategies of available animals through social media, website and any other communication channels.
Manage on-call foster care emergency after-hours calls.
Provide support to shelter volunteers in the absence of the Community Engagement Coordinator.
Maintain positive communication with HSWC patrons, volunteers, fosters, local organizations, and the general public to promote HSWC mission, goals, and programs.
Safely and humanely handle and/or restrain animals, including those of unknown health and temperament.
