Purpose of Position: Work closely with Leadership and Major Gifts teams in an effort to sustain current grant relationships and giving levels as well as increase grant opportunities and secure new funders.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for conducting prospect research and soliciting foundations and granting agencies for the benefit of the organization.
- Ability to raise at least $1.5M annually in foundation partner revenue.
- Manage the identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of grant funders.
- Draft and edit letters of intent, grant proposals, online submissions, acknowledgements, reports, and necessary supporting documents for complex proposals to current and prospective funders.
- Work closely with the leadership team and program staff to effectively communicate the mission and programs of the organization to funders.
- Manage existing grants by: tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining accurate historical records; working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
- Solicit, steward, monitor and manage grants and foundation revenue goals.
- Develop and maintain a grant calendar for all funding requests.
- Maintain up-to-date records and paper files (as needed) in organizational database as well as on the organization’s shared drive.
- Prepare written and statistical reports for various audiences.
- Research new grant opportunities and funders and evaluate degree of match to Dumb Friends
- League or Colorado Humane Society programs and needs.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Performs work in an office setting, at least one to two days per week. Potentially prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion. May work in an area with high noise level. Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Occasional lifting with reasonable accommodation.

Compensation: Starting range $61,000.00-$73,000.00 annually (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)

Required
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience: Three years of experience writing grants
