This session will demonstrate a collaborative, One Health response to avian influenza among domestic pets, livestock and poultry, as well as public health and wildlife response. Colorado has been severely impacted by avian influenza outbreaks among wildlife, domestic poultry, dairy cattle, domestic cats, and people. The State Departments of Agriculture (CDA) and Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) have worked jointly to control and mitigate disease among animals to prevent further spread and human illness. Unique aspects of disease spread have been identified among domestic cats infected with avian influenza virus. Recommendations will include disease prevention and control measures for handling suspected infected animals and reporting requirements.
