The City of Longmont invites you to apply for the CSO Animal Control Officer position.
Hiring Range: $27.69 – $30.76/hour
Definition: Establish partnerships and collaborate to effectively resolve or reduce problems, issues, conflicts, and mutual concerns relating to animals and their owners. Respond to and investigate calls for service related to animal control in an effort to protect the public from nuisance and dangerous animals; handle calls for service concerning animals and their welfare; enforce applicable municipal ordinances; participate in and provide support, assistance, and education for community and enforcement programs relating to animals. Incumbents are assigned to the Special Operations Division.
This position is a community position that assists the police department in maintaining a safe
environment.
Qualifications: Two or more years of responsible experience requiring frequent public contact and the interpretation of rules and regulations. Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver License. Ability to be trained in the use of tranquilizer gun and darts, euthanasia drugs and equipment (needles and syringes), and First Aid kits. Ability to become certified in First Aid, CPR, Defensive Tactics, Pepper Mace, Taser, and the ASP expandable baton. Attendance at annual refresher courses is required to maintain certifications. Ability to be AWAC certified.
