Purpose of the Position: This position provides support to the shelter operations team at Buddy Center, by aiding with the adoptions process, animal intakes and evaluations, cleaning and maintaining kennels, as well as custodial work to maintain the facility.
Responsibilities
- Will float to various departments to support operations as assigned.
- Deliver high-level customer service to the League’s patrons.
- Provide daily animal relinquishment, stray, and evaluation services.
- Meet potential adopters to gather and give information to assist in the adoption process.
- Review and complete various paperwork including but not limited to relinquishments, strays, adoptions, return to owner.
- Represent the League in offsite events, and complete animal adoptions as needed.
- Provide food, water and care for animals.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize animal kennels and /or other daily work areas.
- Perform basic behavior and health evaluations to determine the path of animal.
- Administer vaccines and medications as directed.
- Maintain safe animal handling skills, including the ability to handle dangerous/fractious animals.
- Cover tasks, staff shortages, or scheduling challenges as needed.
- Direct and provide guidance to volunteers.
- Obtain and maintain required certification to perform duties of euthanasia technician and/or holder.
- Adhere to all League safety, training, handling and transportation protocols to ensure that the shelter environment is safe for animals, the public, volunteers and employees.
- May provide ongoing support and training to staff and volunteers.
- Complete driving errands as needed.

Compensation: $22.50-$23.65 per hour (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, climbing stairs, and walking. Frequent lifting of animals and objects up to 75 lbs. with reasonable accommodation.
