The Opportunity: Veterinary Technician – RVT
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join the veterinary support team in our recently renovated veterinary hospital.
Our full-service, 8-doctor, non-profit veterinary hospital has been open to the public since 1997. Our practice provides quality and compassionate medical services to the public, and that same high-quality care to animals in our shelter. Additionally, we offer programs to support pet guardians needing access to affordable veterinary care. This allows us to put the patient first. At the same time, revenue generated by the veterinary hospital directly supports the mission of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley by funding health care for shelter animals.
At HSBV, we strive to be an employer of choice for our staff by creating an environment where you will thrive. We recognize RVTs are crucial to providing quality veterinary care and HSBV is excited about the expanded opportunities for technicians outlined in the 2024 Veterinary Practice Act (VPA). In our hospital, you will put your hard-earned skills into practice and to the fullest potential of the VPA and you will continue to grow your animal nursing skills in an environment where your professional opinions are welcome and valued.
About the job – Beyond the standard duties of a technician in a small animal practice – the daily assignments will rotate. Between 10-25 animals are anesthetized per day. HSBV’s hospital provides spay and neuter services to an interesting variety of small mammals and provides care to sick and injured stray animals. Some of these patients have medical conditions not typically seen in the average veterinary clinic.
About you – You are an excellent candidate for this role if you’re ready to stretch your current skills or showcase your strengths as a veterinary technician. You can’t imagine not working as part of large, and collaborative team. You are energized by a dynamic, supportive environment. You’re excited to think this might your perfect job.
We encourage you to apply if you have experience that is transferable, even if it’s not a perfect match. We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups including but not limited women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, people with disabilities, and veterans. Spanish/English speaking individuals are encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2024, or until the position is filled.
What we offer – The anticipated pay rate for this position is $22.00 – $27.00 per hour. There is an additional $2.00 per hour paid for weekend hours worked. This pay range is the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s best estimate for this position and actual compensation will be based on factors including but not limited to the depth and extent of relevant experience, education, and additional training/certifications for preferred skills. Additional compensation is available for qualified employees who can translate for our Spanish-speaking clientele. Included in the HSBV compensation package:
