If you’re a DVM with a passion for shelter medicine who embraces the Socially Conscious Sheltering philosophy, we’d love to speak with you!  Reporting to the Chief Veterinarian, our Supervising Veterinarians are responsible for oversight of the daily operations of the Organization’s Veterinary Services and Foster & Transfer departments.  Responsibilities include managing the health of the Shelter population, the surgical program and our disease control protocols.  The position serves as a key member of the Shelter management team and leads Shelter and contract Veterinarians, department technicians and assistants, Foster and Transfer Coordinators and others.   Interacts closely and collaborates with Shelter Manager and the Behavior team.  Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of Colorado (or obtain license soon after hiring) and maintain certification.  Minimum one-year experience as an animal shelter veterinarian with substantial responsibilities for population level issues required.  High quality/high volume surgical sterilization experience required.  Must be qualified and eligible to obtain and retain DEA license and provide proof of, and maintain, Professional Liability Insurance.  Minimum of more than one-year proven staff supervisory experience required.  Experience performing dental surgeries preferred.  Veterinary experience with exotics and barnyard animals a plus.  Knowledge of population and individual animal health management, disease prevention and control, and epidemiology, strongly desired.  Proven decision making and diagnostic skills and an interest in pursuing treatment options with limited resources.  Strong customer service, communication, emotional intelligence, work ethic and integrity skills required.  Bilingual English/Spanish reading, writing, understanding and speaking is a plus and includes a wage premium.  Initial schedules are generally Monday through Friday and include on-call (phone) requirements.  View the full job description for more information.  We are a Federal Student Loan Forgiveness approved employer.  Please include salary requirements and availability in a cover letter.

Expected hiring range is $120k tp $140k commensurate with experience and education.  Relocation assistance available.  Closes when filled.
