Location: Loveland, CO
Position: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

As an Animal Protection and Control (APC) Officer, you’ll be on the front lines, protecting both animals and the community, enforcing ordinances, and ensuring responsible pet ownership.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Enforce Animal Ordinances: Investigate and enforce animal control violations such as animals at large, bite investigations, and licensing issues.
- Patrol & Respond: Conduct field patrols to ensure compliance with animal laws, assist citizens, and provide education on responsible pet ownership.
- Public Interaction: Issue warnings, legal summonses, and testify in court when needed.
- Animal Care & Rescue: Impound and transport domestic and wild animals, vaccinate animals, and provide wildlife capture and rescue services. (cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, and more!)
- On-Call Responsibilities: Complete a minimum of three overnight “on-call” shifts per month.
- Dispatcher Duties: Assist in dispatching calls, overseeing officer safety, and managing emergency situations.
- Report & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports of daily activities, investigations, and incidents.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols, maintain an insurable driving record, and stay updated on ordinances and procedures.
Job Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED; minimum of one year of work experience.
- License & Certification: Valid Colorado Driver’s License and eligibility for commission as an Officer. Must obtain vaccination and euthanasia certification within six months.
- Experience: Animal care, animal welfare, or animal handling experience desired. Previous enforcement or dispatch experience is a plus.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish bilingual skills (reading, writing, speaking, understanding) are a plus and come with additional compensation.
- Other: Must live within 30 miles of the Larimer Campus (located in Loveland, CO) due to on-call duties
- Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to handle animals of all temperaments, including aggressive or injured animals.
Strong problem-solving skills and emotional intelligence.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-paced environment.
