Regular Full-Time (40 hrs), Non-Exempt, Hourly
Seeking a professional career that involves helping both animals and people? Our officer positions are regular full-time jobs responsible for enforcing associated State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.) and include animal handling and constraint. Officers represent the Organization in a professional, courteous and ethical manner at all times. The job requires learning a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of physical field work, handling animals of all temperaments and more. Requirements include a minimum of one (1) year work experience and proven clerical, typing/computing and math skills. Previous animal care, animal welfare and/or animal handling experience strongly desired. Experience reading and interpreting ordinances a plus. Ability to multi-task within a busy work environment required. Previous enforcement experience a plus. Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills required. Proven bilingual skills English/Spanish (speaking, understanding, reading and writing) is a plus and includes a pay premium. Ability to relate information to the public and staff in a concise, clear manner required as is the ability to work in direct contact with aggressive and injured animals. Knowledge of Chameleon or other shelter software helpful. Work schedules are generally 4×10 or 5×8, subject to business need, and include holiday and weekend shifts. Compensated on-call overnight shifts are required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Living arrangements within 30 miles of the Larimer Campus (located in Loveland, CO) due to on-call duties. Expected hiring range is $18.50 to $22.00 per hour commensurate with applicable experience and certifications. Closes October 31st, 2024, or when filled.
